Recruit Update: Corey Brown
One of the most heralded prospects of the Class of 2010 is Philadelphia’s Corey Brown. A running back out of O’Hara, Brown was waiting to take his physical for the fall football season which begins bext Monday with Cardinal O’Hara. The talented running back expects big things for O’Hara.
A four-recruit according to Rivals.com, Brown has spent the summer lifting and training plus hitting the beach a few times - he says Philly guys like Wildwood.
On the 2009 season: “Undefeated and winning the Catholic League. Also Group 12 champions.”
On his health after injuries took their toll in 2008: “I’m back and I am definitely 100% and can do everything that is needed. I ran track this past spring and everything is fine. I am ready and set to play football - I am fully healthy.”
On recruiting: “Things have been going real well and I am happy where things are at. I am sitting down with my mom to talk about things and see if we can come up with a top five so I can take some visits.”
On if he has a top five: “Not yet, but I hope to after I talk with my mom.”
On playing close to home: “That’s not really important to me. My mom is going to be able to see me play. She doesn’t like to fly but I heard somewhere that I wouldn’t pick a school based on that - it isn’t true. She drives and takes the train and she will get to see me play. Distance isn’t a big factor right now.”
On early playing time: “Obviously, I want to play early and it’s important to me, but I’m not afraid of competition. It’s important for me to earn my time on the field, but I still want to come in and make a difference early.”
On playing offense or defense: “It doesn’t really matter to me, either way has positives, offense or defense. As long as I can play and contribute and make a difference, that is what is important.”
On his recruitment by Rutgers: “Rutgers is great and cool. I like what they’re doing and they’re still in there, but right now, it’s Ohio State and Florida on top and everyone else sort of second.”
On his recruitment by Ohio State: “It’s a great program and a great school academically. I really like that they have a lot of young guys playing there right now. They’re going to be good for a long time.”
On his recruitment by Florida: “I’ve talked with coach [Meyer] several times and it’s been great. They’re recruiting me to play on the offensive side of the ball, in their hybrid position. They recruit a lot of athletes down there, and they see me fitting in.”
